Classical Figure

The Boulder School of Fine offers classes in drawing and painting the human form. In the Thursday and Saturday Afternoon Figure classes, the same model poses over multiple weeks and students use the sight size and comparison measurement techniques over multiple sessions to create drawings and paintings that are accurate in overall shape and true to life in value and color of a nude model.

Sketches are first made to explore the gesture, shape and values of the subject, then a final finished drawing of charcoal on Roma paper is completed before painting begins. If time permits, a historically based limited palette of oil paints is used on linen canvas to create a la prima paintings that reflect the overall light and shadows of the model's form.

Don't miss the 5 day workshop July 8-12 from 10-12:30.
