Rick Dallago teaches a 4-week acrylic painting workshop based on Edvard Munch's masterpiece, The Scream. Learn more about the process Munch followed to create a series of instantly recognizable and unforgettable series of images that powerfully evoke his own emotions. Designed for beginners and experienced painters alike, this step-by-step class will explore color mixing, brush techniques, and the expressive style of Edvard Munch. By the end of the course, you’ll have your own vibrant interpretation of this iconic masterpiece to take home. All art supplies are included—just bring your curiosity and creativity!​

Thursdays, June 4-25 from 5:30-7:30

Learn how to make a flower painting using oil paints inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's masterpiece flower paintings. Ninel will teach beginning and advanced students how to interpret the beauty of flowers while learning about composition, material handling and color mixing.

Paint a Tree with Oils or Pastels

Just Trees Painting Workshop

Two Saturdays and Sundays, June 6, 7, 13 and 14 from 10-1:30

Trees are something we see every day, but when we want to paint them, we struggle with the trunk and limbs and foliage. In this workshop learn the anatomy of different trees and their structures and how to paint the essence of the tree.

You will learn through demos and several exercises how to mass in foliage and suggest seasonal color, including flowering spring trees, fall colors and bare winter branches. Create simple structure using 2 -3 values. Explore color temperature, light and shadows and sharpen your editing and design skills. You will be using photo references provided by Barb and will learn how to edit your composition to make it more interesting.

Two June weekends from 10-1:30, June 6, 7, and 13 and 14

Limited oil  and pastel supplies provided as part of the class fee.​ A supplemental list will be provided for those wishing to bring a complete palette of colors for their projects.

Paint Animals with Oils or Pastels

Paint Life-Like Animals Workshop

Three Saturdays and Sundays, July 11, 12, 18, 19 and 25 and 26 from 10-1:30

Explore techniques to create paint life-like paintings of a variety of animals with oils or pastels. In this workshop you will learn how to:

 

•    Paint different textures of fur and feathers without obsessing over every detail.

•    Create expressive looking eyes.

•    Take the best photos of your subject by learning the Do’s and Don’ts for the best poses.

•    Mix the correct colors for fur, especially all black or white animals.

•    Use different brushes for different effects.

•    Use the best colors for the background.

Three July weekends from 10-1:30, July 11, 12, 18, 19 and 25 and 26
